Made for us from the countryside of Sava where Primitivo di Manduria was originally called ‘Vino di Sava’. This is the first wine in our NUMERO collection.
Tasting Notes:
The colour is deep ruby red with a tawny hue; it has an intense aroma of red and black fruit with subtle hints of sultana, raisin and chocolate and is full bodied with a velvety mouth feel.
Perfect for pairing with roasted and grilled red meat and aged cheese.
Serve at 16 – 18°C.
Vineyard Characteristics:
Planting Type: Vite ad alberello (bush trained)
Soil: Clayey limestone
Yield: This is a limited edition wine made for us in the countryside of Sava, Maduria DOP with initial production of 120 bottles only
Vinification:
Traditional methods, once pressed, the resulting must is stored in underground vitrified containers where maturation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24/26°C. Once the fermentation is complete, it is left to mature in vitrified cement tanks for at least a year and then separate batches are aged in either traditional oak barrels and 100 year old terracotta urns called ‘Capasoni’ before being carefully blended together to create the characteristic Primitivo di Manduria wine.
